Mark Lanegan died about a month ago. I didn’t know the guy personally. But our mutual friend Mishka Shubaly asked me onto his podcast to talk about the man, his music, his passing. Here’s a YouTube embed but it’s available at Apple Podcasts, Podbean, and other platforms if you prefer listening elsewhere. Type “shubaly lanegan bemis” into a search engine and the episode should pop up.
As Mishka puts it, our conversation is mostly about “falling in love & staying in love with music.” It posted yesterday and while it was a cathartic chat, this topic might be too tender for me to listen back any time soon. I’m alerting you (1) on the chance it might serve as a bit of audio therapy for anyone out there coping with loss, and (2) as encouragement to listen to Mark’s music now that he’s not around to make any more of it.
Really this is all an excuse to get you to listen to his music:
# of Tracks: two dozen songs
Length: about 90 minutes
Themes: addiction ~ second acts ~ gravelly voiced singers ~ dark-tinged grace ~ tenderness
