Here's the story: I helped curate the line-up of a bonkers arts festival in Greece. A few of the names are listed on the flyer above — and your mind will explode when you hear some of the names that didn’t make it. (Bongeziwe Mabandla, Kronos Quartet, a tribute Jóhann Jóhannsson by Theater of Voices and the contemporary ensemble ACME). It took place at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center in Athens, Greece between June 17-24, 2018. Admission for all shows was FREE.
This playlist featured music from many of the performers. By my count, we booked artists from five continents — most of whom express themselves in the kind of creole musical language which I most respect & enjoy: classical, alt-rock, folk, electronic music, jazz, whateva.
Many thanks to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, Mily Paschali & Alexi Murodch for bringing this opportunity to my door. This was a mindblowing opportunity unlikely to be repeated in my lifetime. I hope did well by everyone involved!
