I’m dreading the day Dylan goes, but it’s been an honor and a privilege to share our living, breathing world (and occasionally the same space) with him. The way some people wonder what it must have been like to live in Shakespeare’s time — I think people will someday wonder the same about Dylan’s. There’s no one else like him — and never again can or will be.
But there will also not be another Nina Simone or Dolly Parton (granted, she’s become a beautiful kindly meme rather than a full-time musician) or Neil Young (granted, he’s inconsistent) or Andre 3000 (granted, he’s reluctant to even do what he’s best at).
Which is to say the world is full of incredible people & will continue to create them. It’s a matter of finding & supporting those talents, which happened in a more fluid way during the less chaotic media environment that Dylan was lucky enough to come up in.

Strongly agree with pretty much all of this.
